Heringen (dpa/th) – When trying to drive his truck out of an embankment, a 62-year-old fell over with his team and was injured. A rescue helicopter was used on Saturday on Autobahn 38 near Nordhausen to treat the driver and his passenger, who was also injured, according to the police. The accident resulted in property damage of around 75,000 euros.
The truck driver wanted to leave the motorway at the Heringen junction (Nordhausen district), but drove down an embankment. When he tried to get back on the road, the truck and trailer overturned.
According to police information, the A38 in the direction of Leipzig was blocked on Saturday morning as well as the Heringen junction by the overturned truck. The police diverted traffic from the Autobahn at the Nordhausen junction. According to the police, there was also a traffic jam in the meantime. It is now being determined why the truck went off the road.
