Erfurt (dpa/th) – The first warning strikes in kindergartens in Thuringia are expected in the public service wage dispute. The Education and Science Union (GEW) announced warning strikes for this Tuesday in kindergartens in Erfurt. The collectively agreed members of the GEW in the Erfurt day-care centers were called to a day-long work stoppage, the union announced on Monday.
In collective bargaining for federal and local employees, the unions are demanding 10.5 percent more money, but at least 500 euros for a period of 12 months.
The second round of negotiations in the collective bargaining dispute for around 2.5 million public sector employees is planned for Wednesday and Thursday in Potsdam. The municipal employers have so far rejected the union demands as economically unmanageable.
