Erfurt (dpa/th) – Thuringia’s state treasury ended 2022 with a high surplus despite the corona pandemic, energy crisis and economic concerns. Finance Minister Heike Taubert (SPD) wants to inform today in Erfurt how thick the financial cushion is and what should be done with it. Before that, she will present the budget for 2022 to the cabinet.
According to preliminary information from the Ministry of Finance, the surplus amounts to around 362 million euros. In addition, contrary to her plans, Taubert did not have to take any money from the reserve to finance state spending last year. This left almost 512 million euros in the country’s financial reserve.
