A man is accused of killing his entire family after escaping from Texas prison in May. This is what the police believed, and they shot him on Thursday evening. The fugitive Gonzalo Lopez was killed by police in Jourdanton south of San Antonio.
Police had just found the car of the family that was killed and were able to puncture it with a harrowing. Five bodies, including an adult and four children, were found in a house close to Centerville. This small town is half way between Houston and Dallas.
Since May 12, when he fled from prison, authorities had been looking for him. He was being transported by bus from one jail to the next. Many members of the Texas police force mobilized to search for the prisoner, especially on horseback, during the initial days of his escape. This was the most extensive manhunt in state history. For any information that leads to his whereabouts, a $50,000 reward was announced.
The prisoner was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder and had removed his restraints while onboard the prison bus. He then stabbed the driver before fleeing towards the location where the victim’s family was found.
