Fighting intensified overnight in Ukraine. Kyiv experienced its biggest attack “since the spring” on Wednesday morning, August 30, military authorities said after two people were killed in a missile attack on the Ukrainian capital.

“Night Air Attack. kyiv has not seen such a strong attack since the spring. The enemy launched a massive attack […] using drones and missiles,” Kiev military administration chief Sergiy Popko said on Telegram, noting that “in total more than 20 enemy targets been destroyed” by the Ukrainian air defence. “Unfortunately, as a result of the falling debris in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv … two people died, according to initial reports. Another person was injured,” Sergiy Popko said on Telegram.

All the competent services have been dispatched to the scene, said the mayor of kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, on Telegram. “In a non-residential building” in the district, “two men were found dead,” he said, also reporting that two people were injured and hospitalized. A journalist from Agence France-Presse reported at least three explosions heard in the Ukrainian capital around 5 a.m. local time (4 a.m. in Paris). Vitali Klitschko meanwhile mentioned “explosions in the city”.
