Keurig has agreed to pay a $5.8 million civil penalty for allegedly failing to report defects to its coffee makers, federal officials said.

Keurig Green Mountain received about 200 reports of hot water, coffee and coffee grounds spraying out of its MINI Plus Brewing Systems from 2010 to 2014. They were accused of failing to tell the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The CPSC announced the fine in a news release on Tuesday.

More than 100 people were Betgram burned on their faces, hands and bodies.  Some of the injuries were severe and resulted in second- and third-degree burns, according to the CPSC.

Keurig, which didn’t admit wrongdoing in the agreement to pay the penalty, also agreed to develop a compliance program to ensure it follows the Consumer Product Safety Act.

Keurig recalled about 6.6 million MINI Plus brewers in December 2014.  The brewers were sold at Kmart, Kohl’s, Target, Walmart and other stores nationwide and online
