Is that still a bicycle or is it already a moped? The number of pedelec models that flirt with both genres has been growing for several years. This also applies to the off-road Uni Viper from Berlin with particularly thick fat bike balloon tires.
The range of pedelecs with moped airs continues to grow. The latest addition is the Uni Viper from Urban Drivestyle in Berlin. As usual with pedelecs, it offers a pedal drive that can be used to activate the support of an electric motor in the rear wheel up to a maximum of 25 kilometers per hour. Thanks to an 828 Wh battery, the electric range should be up to 80 kilometers. In contrast to many gearless city cruisers, the 30-kilogram Uni Viper features a seven-speed derailleur.
The e-bike has 20-inch spoked wheels with voluminous studded tires, which, together with an elongated leather seat and the large front headlight, ensure proportions reminiscent of mopeds. The particularly thick fat bike balloon tires are designed to absorb every bump in the ground, and you don’t run the risk of getting stuck in tram tracks in cities like Berlin.
The airy tubular frame is characterized by pivot points for the rear wheel suspension. In combination with a damper below the seat and the sprung front wheel fork, the Uni Viper offers a fully chassis. This means that excursions off the beaten track should not be a problem. The long moped saddle, which is covered with hand-sewn leather, is intended to make the Viper comfortable for drivers between 1.55 and 1.85 meters tall.
The bike offers a good range of components for everyday use. This includes an LCD display, massive tires with puncture protection and hydraulic disc brakes. Mudguards are currently not available from Urban Drivestyle especially for this model.
At the beginning of 2023, the Berliners want to deliver the first copies of the Uni Viper. Initially, a limited edition of 100 copies is planned at a special price of around 3000 euros, which can be reserved now. Later, the regular price should be 3600 euros.
