A few months ago it was Ana Blanco and today it was Raquel Martínez. The presenter of the RTVE newscasts has announced her departure through an emotional video in which she collects some of her great moments on the public channel and a phrase: “The importance of knowing when to break ranks… So far 18 years together with you and always learning from wonderful people!”.
Raquel Martínez began her career in the public broadcaster in 2004, first at RNE, and later on Canal 24 Horas and La 2 Noticias. In 2012 she made the leap to the La 1 Weekend Newscast where she remained until 2018.
In that year, under the administration of Rosa María Mateo, she was relegated back to Canal 24 Horas where she has carried out her work as a presenter until today.
As the debate of RTVE sources progresses, the reasons for his departure are professional, although it is not specified if, like Ana Blanco, his decision is due to new directions within the chain or to his complete departure from the public entity.
Raquel Martínez’s career as a presenter of the weekend news was cut short with the arrival of Pedro Sánchez to the government and the appointment of Rosa María Mateo.
Like many other professionals of the public entity, including his partner in the newscasts Pedro Carreño, they were displaced from the front line. They were dismissed from their posts and relegated to Canal 24 horas.
When she was removed from her duties on the newscast and returned to Canal 24 Horas, she criticized the fact that the good audience data had not been taken into account and announced it as follows: “They put me where I started 12 years ago: Canal 24 horas end of week”.
