Recreational Cannabis is one of the hottest breakthrough industries throughout the entire United States. It’s no surprise you’ve gotten your hand into the game. With that in mind, as new as things are, it’s easy to feel like you’re in the dark. You know there’s a lot of passion, love, and excitement around cannabis but how do you find your place within that?
With a little bit of research and the good planning that I’ll come with, there’s no worry that you won’t be able to handle everything that comes your way. To make sure things are as smooth as possible, these are the strategies you’ll want to make sure you implement at every turn as a brand new cannabis company.
Learn The Laws
As silly as you might find it, it’s just the plain truth that cannabis is still not legal at the federal level. As the owner of a cannabis company, you know that. What you might not know is how the laws are different from state to state. It’s easy to not even know your state’s laws on the subject like the back of your hand.
If that sounds like you, take the time to learn. This is only going to pay off in the future. Also, depending on where you are throughout the United states, make sure you at least have familiarity with your neighboring states’ laws on cannabis. Doing so will avoid headaches in the future and it will also give you a leg up if that state hasn’t already legalized yet and you’d like to move into that market when the switch is finally flipped.
Bring In Marketing
Everyone has heard the nightmare stories of how something that is federally illegal, but legal in your state, can run into. The common example of that is working with banks, getting loans, things like that. Where you don’t have to worry is public opinion and perception.
Those are going to be two of your best friends going forward and now with how favorably legal cannabis is viewed, plenty of other businesses are going to be happy to work with you. You might know how to grow cannabis, but that doesn’t translate into growing a social media following.
Most professional marketing firms are going to be more than happy to have the chance at getting your name out there. As an example of how favorably that industry views marijuana, there’s even plenty of teams who would consider themselves experts in the matter, like Heady, and plenty of others throughout the United States.
Find Your Lane
Whether your new cannabis company was set up in a state that was one of the first to legalize or is being set up in the state that was most recent to do so, find your niche as early as possible. While cannabis is a new and exciting market, it is easy for things to get flooded and for your name to be forgotten among the thousands of other operations just like yours.
As your marketing starts to take effect, see what is most engaging to your social media following and lean into that unabashedly. It’s going to be better if you are the best when it comes to one aspect of recreational cannabis opposed to being just alright at every aspect of it.
