UGT and CCOO have decided to postpone the call for a strike by Iberia handling workers until Christmas after the opening of a new negotiation framework in which the Government will act as an intermediary.
Both unions have held talks with the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility to try to find a solution to this conflict, generated after the resolution of the Aena handling contest in which Iberia lost the license at eight airports.
Thus, the Government has offered to mediate in the conflict, given the intention of the social agents to call the strike after the “unsuccessful conversations held with Iberia”, according to UGT in a statement.
The strike, although it had not finally been called, was planned for the days between December 29 and January 1 and between January 4 and 7 for Iberia’s handling workers. Unions and Iberia agreed on a deadline that ended this Tuesday to reach an agreement to avoid the strike, which finally occurred thanks to the Ministry’s offer.
