On May 29 José María García returns. The king of the airwaves once again stands in front of a microphone and a camera for the documentary Supergarcía, previously known under the title García there is only one, a project that was born a year ago and is finally going to see the light of day on Movistar Plus .
After 40 years as the king of radio, in 2002 José María García hung up the microphone, 20 years later the journalist picked it up again and sat down again in front of his listeners.
It was in 2022 when this documentary was born, directed by Goya nominees Charlie Arnaiz and Alberto Ortega from Dadá Films.
“Good evening, cordial greetings. One minute after midnight, one hour less in the Canarian community. As you may have noticed, I am José María García. I have returned,” says the journalist in the documentary’s promotional teaser. He then crosses himself.
Movistar Plus has not revealed much more than the expected documentary that comes three years after the platform premiered Kings of the Night, the series based on the aforementioned rivalry between José María García and José Ramón de la Morena and starring Javier Gutiérrez and Miki Esparbé .
The documentary not only marks the return of José María García to the media, but also has voices that are not always consistent that will recall the career of the king of the airwaves. His children José María and Luis, Ana José Cancio, Javier Ares, Iñaki Gabilondo, Arturo Pérez Reverte Juanma Castaño, Cristina Pardo, Alfredo Relaño and even Mariano Rajoy, among others.
