It’s Fat Tuesday, so laissez les bons temps rouler with some New Orleans-inspired fare, southern booze and cocktails, lots of beer and, of course, beads. (Keep your shirts on, heathens.)

Avery Brewing released Uncle Jacob’s Stout in a bottle today at 11 a.m. All day, the menu at Avery will be Mardi Gras-inspired with jambalaya, po’boys, beignets and more. There will aslo be a Kings Cake — and if you’re lucky enough to find the baby, snag a free bottle of Uncle Jacob’s.

Boulder Beer is hosting a five-course Cajun beer dinner tonight from 6-9 p.m. For $35 a head, diners will get smoked blackened shrimp dip with Cajun fried pickles and chips for the first course, then fried-green tomato caprese salad with smoked mozzarella, crispy basil and a balsamic reduction for the second, the third course features crawfish etouffe served over smoked dirty rice, then Cajun-spiced, smoked duck breast with a blueberry glaze and smoked mashed potatoes and beignets for dessert. Under the Sun’s Mardi Gras party lands on the final day of Stout Month, and the joint has a party planned from 9 p.m.-midnight. The Alcapones will hit the stage at 9:30 p.m., and there will be muffuletta, gumbo and hush puppies to eat, hurricanes to drink and a homemade King Cake by the pastry chef. Plus, you can win a $100 gift card if you find the baby in the cake.

Jax Fish House is serving up a crawfish boil with live, fresh crawfish, boiled in spicy broth with potatoes, corn, and andouille sausage. New Orleans’ Dixie beer, as well as Lafayette’s Post beers are $3 — and a 24-ounce hurricane is $18 served in a souvenir yard cup.

Boulder House is hosting a Fat Tuesday party from 9 p.m-1 a.m. with Denver’s New Orleans-style funk band Gumbo le Funque. So go gumbo that funk. And such.

Saint Aidan’s Episcopal Church is serving up gumbo at its Mardi Gras party tonight. The church will provide the masks and from 6-10 p.m. you can tear up the dance floor to music from parishioners.

West End Tavern is celebrating today with beads, Hurricanes and Sazerac (New Orleans’ version of a whiskey cocktail). They’ll be serving up shrimp po’boys and bengiets. Plus, the bar has tons of bourbon. That’s really all you need.

At Lucile’s Creole Cafe, every day is Mardi Gras in the kitchen. Have a Bloody Mary and some beignets before you start removing clothing all about the town in exchange for plastic beads you can buy in bulk at a party store for small change.

Oskar Blues in Longmont is on its last day of a special New Orleans-inspired menu, featuring oysters, shrimp, gator bites, red beans and rice with blackened catfish, gator po’boy and King Cake. Boulder’s “bluesiana” band Jockamo will hit the stage upstairs at 7 p.m.

Wibby Brewing in Longmont is having an authentic Fat Tuesday Crawdad Boil from 5-9 p.m. There will be poutine made from Wibby lagers and King Cake. And beer. Mmm. Beer.

At the Avalon Ballroom on Saturday is the annual KGNU Community Radio Mardi Gras fundraiser with Denver’s Colorado Friends of Cajun and Zydeco Music and Dance. Louisiana’s Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble hit the stage at 8 p.m., with Zydeco dance lessons right before at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 at the door and $25 at KGNU. Dress in your finest purple, gold and green, there will be a costume contest.
