Activists of the “Last Generation” blocked the Mühlendamm Bridge in Berlin-Mitte on Wednesday morning. In addition to the well-known sticking on the street, the environmentalists also dump concrete on the street. The police are investigating because of coercion in traffic.
Climate demonstrators in Berlin have again caused significant traffic obstructions with a road blockade. On the morning of February 15, members of the group “Last Generation” poured concrete on the roadway of the Mühlendamm Bridge in Berlin-Mitte. According to a police spokesman, twelve people took part in the action, nine of whom also stuck to the road in the direction of Alexanderplatz. Around 20 police officers were on site. Traffic was diverted over a large area, resulting in traffic jams.
After almost three hours, the route was released again, as a police spokeswoman said. Place references were issued, and it was determined, among other things, because of coercion in road traffic. Referring to the police, the RBB reports that the remains of the concrete have already hardened. In order to get the roadway clean again, the Berlin city cleaning department should help.
The traffic information center (VIZ) Berlin announced on Twitter that the road had been cleaned. The group “Last Generation” said that the focus of the action was the “misguided transport policy of the German federal government”. With the pouring out of the concrete, it will be used “for a more meaningful purpose” than the construction of new climate-damaging motorways.
