Lele Pons gave an interview to El Hormiguero on Thursday, March 30. The ‘influencer’ and singer, who presented the album Capitulaciones with Guaynaa, revealed the real reason why she does not do concerts.
Pablo Motos asked the artist about her mental health, since Pons suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and Tourette syndrome. “I think that everyone has something and it is very important that they talk about this publicly. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have something: depression, anxiety, bipolarity…”, said the interviewee, who recommended going to therapy and assured that Guaynaa, her co-worker and husband, is a great support.
Lele also explained that he can suffer tics throughout his body, something that prevents him from working normally. “It’s not just in the eye. It could be the hand, it could be something in the foot, it could be the voice or the neck. I don’t do concerts because I get very nervous. I never do concerts,” she acknowledged.
The presenter wanted to know what hobbies he has derived from his obsessive-compulsive disorder. “When we go to sleep, I have to turn off the light three times. Mine is more mental than physical. When I was little, it was more physical,” she confessed. “I do things in three because it’s like my lucky number. If I don’t do it in three times, and this happens to people with OCD, I think something bad is going to happen, so I do everything in three” , exposed.
Guaynaa revealed how he overcame his alcohol and drug addiction problems. “I want it to be the first and the last time I’m going to talk about this. I’ve never said it before, but yes, I had a drug addiction and I was basically hospitalized and rehabilitated,” he recounted.
“I realized that I was going to lose her if I continued in that world, so thanks to Lele, thanks to my parents and my willpower, I managed to complete the rehabilitation and today I am enjoying my new life,” stressed the artist. “You’d be surprised if I told you that alcohol rehab is much stronger than most drug rehabs for physical dependence,” he added.
