August is heading towards its final stretch and the chains are warming up their engines for the season that is about to begin. Things are especially difficult for Telecinco, which is experiencing an unprecedented audience crisis. While La 1 has found the formula to maintain enviable data in a time of classic decline in television consumption, the Mediaset channel plummets with all its proposals and ended July relegated to third position and at record lows.

The course ended on Telecinco with news that polarized the audience: Mediaset put an end to Sálvame after 14 years. Weeks before, perhaps due to the pressure of what was to come, the star presenter in the evenings, Jorge Javier Vázquez, took medical leave to recover from his health problems.

Jorge Javier’s recovery would come in mid-July, when EL MUNDO confirmed that he was recording the pilot for a new format, produced by La Fábrica de la Tele as Sálvame, which would mean his return to television as a trick to compete nothing more and none other than Pablo Motos.

With the name Cuentos chinos, the program would be broadcast from Monday to Thursday after the news program, in direct competition with El Hormiguero, it would last 50 minutes and would be tailored to the presenter, combining interviews and sections in which different collaborators would participate but, in principle, unrelated to the tabloids.

Telecinco has launched this Wednesday a new promotional video for its new season and, by surprise, it is already announcing the entry of Cuentos chinos on its grid, together with Big Brother Vip 8, which will be presented by Marta Flich and Ion Aramendi, the new morning magazine La mirada critique, with Ana Terradillos and Vamos a ver, with Joaquín Prat, which will replace the AR Program, and of course tardeAR with the arrival of Ana Rosa Quintana in the afternoon.

It also appears in the promotion El desmarque, which means the unification under the same brand of all Mediaset sports information spaces with the incorporation of the journalists Joseba Larrañaga and Lucía Taboada to the team of presenters that will include Manu Carreño, Ricardo Reyes, Luis García and Matías Prats Chacón, and the new program by Carlos Sobera, El musical de tu vida.

In front of the new incorporations, of the new promotional video of Telecinco with respect to the one that already advanced at the beginning of August there is a resounding fall. The last night, the program hosted by Sandra Barneda on Friday nights and which has garnered very poor audience data, no longer appears.

It represents a great risk for Mediaset, but it would also be one of the great bets for the new season, since there have been many who have tried to fight against El Hormiguero over the years without success, but they have never faced a presenter like Jorge Javier Vázquez, whose programs have always marked audience maximums on Telecinco.
