Pasapalabra has spent months showing the confrontations between Orestes Barbero and Rafa Castaño in the rosco. Antena 3 has confirmed that one of them will complete it after almost 200 duels and will win the biggest jackpot in the history of the program, a prize that exceeds 2,250,000 euros. It can be seen in a delivery that will be broadcast between Monday 13 and Friday 17 March.

The contestant who succeeds will succeed Sofía Álvarez, who won 466,000 euros in September 2021. Since the format’s premiere in 2000, only one participant has won a prize of more than two million euros. Below you can find the names of the people who have won the five biggest jackpots that the contest has distributed.

The Asturian won a jackpot of 1,542,000 euros in January 2019, when the program was broadcast on Telecinco and hosted by Christian Gálvez. He had been fighting for it for 168 deliveries.

The participant known as Juanpe made history in July 2013, during the Pasapalabra stage on Telecinco. He was unemployed at the time and won a prize of 1,674,000 euros after completing the rosco.

The Canarian contestant won 1,828,000 euros in July 2021, after 260 consecutive deliveries competing in Pasapalabra. It is the third highest award the format has ever delivered. Antena 3 broadcast the moment in ‘prime time’ and Pablo Díaz stopped by El Hormiguero to talk about his experience.

This contestant from Malaga achieved glory by completing the rosco on Telecinco in October 2016, obtaining a prize of 1,866,000 euros. Viewers can now see him on La 1, as he is part of the El Cazador team.

The prize that Orestes Barbero or Rafa Castaño will achieve will exceed the amount that Eduardo Benito won in May 2006. He broke the record by winning 2,190,000 euros. It should be noted that he completed the donut on his first day in Pasapalabra, at a stage in which Jaime Cantizano was in charge of the Antena 3 space. He reappeared years later in another contest, The Ring Game.
