Hürth (dpa / lnw) – An 18-year-old was rescued lifeless from a bathing lake in Hürth near Cologne on Saturday and later died in a clinic. According to a statement from the Cologne public prosecutor’s office and the police, witnesses observed in the afternoon how the man went under in the bathing lake and did not reappear. Rescue divers and rescue workers recovered the man about an hour later. Despite intensive medical care, the man succumbed to his “significant injuries” in the Cologne University Hospital. After initial investigations, the police assume a swimming accident.
