A level of profitability never seen for Warner Bros. As Le Parisien points out, the movie Barbie just became the biggest box office success ever by the American production and distribution company. With now 1.35 billion dollars in revenue, it thus exceeds Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2, released in 2011, which had collected 1.34 billion dollars.
In its sixth week of release, the film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, earned an additional $17.3 million (€26.9 million) in international ticket sales during the last weekend. This new record should continue to improve as Barbie is still available in many theaters around the world.
Riding on this good momentum, the film could also become the most profitable of the year 2023 at the international level. The top spot is currently occupied by Super Mario Bros. The Movie, which clocks in at $1.35 billion in revenue. The famous brothers Mario and Luigi could therefore lose the lead in the rankings to Barbie.
