The lifeless body of a member of the United Kingdom military rugby team, present in Brittany for the military world championship, was found on Tuesday August 29 on the coast in Dinard (Ille-et-Vilaine), a learned Agence France-Presse from the Saint-Malo public prosecutor’s office, which opened an investigation. The player was discovered on some rocks near Pointe de la VicomtĂ© in Dinard.

“His disappearance had been reported in the middle of the morning at the Saint-Malo police station, shortly before the discovery,” said Agence France-Presse, the public prosecutor of Saint-Malo, Fabrice Tremel, confirming information from the regional daily Ouest-France. “His body was identified by two coaches of the team”, present in Brittany as part of the World Military Rugby Union Championship and housed in Dinard.

An autopsy is to be performed on Wednesday afternoon to try to determine the causes of death, said Fabrice Tremel, for whom “one of the hypotheses is an accidental fall”. The World Military Rugby Championship is organized in various Breton cities from August 16 to September 10, with more than 500 players and managers. Great Britain played their last pool game on Sunday, beating Spain 128-3.
