The new independent Commission on incest and sexual violence against children (Ciivise) lost its two heads in two days. The new president of the commission, Sébastien Boueilh, announced his resignation on Thursday February 8, the day after the withdrawal of his vice-president, Caroline Rey-Salmon.

“Since my appointment on December 11, 2023, I have been the target of slander and personal attacks, and the commission has been the subject of controversies which do not allow the serenity necessary to carry out its missions,” explains Sébastien Boueilh in a statement.

“Concerned above all about the best interests of children, and particularly child victims of incest and sexual violence, wanting the commission to be able to continue its work in a favorable climate, I have made the decision to leave my position as president of the Ciivise,” he continues.

This decision comes the day after the announcement of the withdrawal of the vice-president of Ciivise, Caroline Rey-Salmon. The pediatrician and forensic doctor is the subject of a complaint for “sexual assault by a person abusing the authority conferred on them by their position”.

In solidarity with Caroline Rey-Salmon

In the show “Quotidien” on TMC, Sébastien Boueilh gave his “support” to Ms. Rey-Salmon, commenting “if the victim has filed a complaint, so much the better, I think Caroline will do so too and justice will decide.” Mr. Boueilh, president of the Colosse aux pieds d’église association, was appointed in December by the government to take over from children’s judge Edouard Durand.

The government “takes note of the resignation” and “will bring together stakeholders in the sector in the coming weeks to study the follow-up [to be given] to the commission”, reacted the Ministry of Health.

La Ciivise was launched in March 2021, in the wake of the publication of Camille Kouchner’s book, La Familia grande, which denounced the incest committed on her brother by the political scientist Olivier Duhamel.
