The FMS International 2023 competition was held on March 11 and 12 in Bogotá (Colombia), where rappers from different countries gathered to show their talent in ‘freestyle’ battles. The event ended with the victory of the Spanish Chuty, who defeated the Argentine Mecha in the final battle.
The champion shared in his speech as winner: “I prefer to start with what is uncomfortable and end with what is comfortable. I have worked very hard, the truth is, because I think that I did not give myself to win the league this year. I think that in the last few days I have I’ve been very good, but throughout the year I haven’t been so good. Many times the anger comes because you don’t know the work behind it”.
The ‘freestyler’ recalled his time at the FMS in 2020 and commented: “I have worked hard to endure at 30 what I could not endure at 27”. He also spoke about the host country: “If I really thought that the Colombian public doesn’t want me or can’t let me win, I wouldn’t sign up in a year when the International is in Colombia.” Chuty finished by saying: “Whenever I win a title I think the same thing, enjoy it… I never know when it will be the last. If this is the last, what the last! Thank you very much.”
Playz, RTVE’s digital channel, broadcast FMS Internacional 2023 in Spain and offers the battles of the event on its YouTube channel, which lasted five hours on its last day. Chuty defeated the Argentine Zaina in the round of 16 and the Mexican Rapder in the quarterfinals.
Gazir, a Spanish ‘freestyler’ who held the champion title, was his rival in the semifinal. The man from Madrid defeated the Asturian and reached the final confrontation. He had to measure himself against Mecha, a rapper of Argentine origin whom he managed to overcome.
