Planet Fitness locker rooms look like….a locker room, only purple. nothing special about it. Being only in the male locker room, It smells at times, it’s a locker room. sweat, all the norm, the bathroom is the first thing you see (in the ones I have been in).
I never touch the faucet handles or locks when using the bathroom, but this should be the norm in any bathroom. If you are asking if their bathrooms are plush and clean, something unique…the answer is NO.
Remember this, People who work in fitness places, do you really think they want to clean locker rooms and bathrooms?
I’ve seen the attendants cleaning, so I know they do it. One outlet I saw an old guy cleaning, but when I went to the bathroom, he hadn’t done anything worthy, as far as cleaning.
I wouldn’t walk barefoot in one, or naked. Come dressed, leave dressed. Since I wrote this answer, I moved to a new location, there was a Planet Fitness, so I transferred my membership.
It seems the new locations are larger with more weights and the Locker rooms…superb. I DO take showers at Planet Fitness, now. lol.
I feel sorry for the people who work there, it seems that members think their mother’s clean the lockers room and so they come and go with spoiled conduct.
Does planet fitness have showers And Lockers in 2021
Planet fitness is the facility that we currently use to workout and shower. To use one Planet Fitness gym, you can buy a pass for about $10 per month. In order to use multiple Planet Fitness locations, you will be required to purchase the black card. This card is priced at roughly $20 month and requires a 1-year commitment.
Planet fitness has over 1,400 locations across 49 states. You can see a map of all locations here. It is one of the most widespread fitness chains in the US. Despite this, there are a few caveats to consider. Although the black card membership allows you to use multiple gyms, the contract states that you are only allowed to use facilities outside of your ‘home’ gym 10 times per month.
We have not personally encountered any problems going over this limit, and we have not read about anyone having problems using the gym more than 10 times per month. However, it is something to be aware of; monitoring gym visits is the responsibility of the owner of each facility.
Along with a black card membership, you get a free pass to bring a guest. If you are traveling with a partner, this will allow you to get by with just one pass for the two of you. Keep in mind, you do not have to work out if you just want to go in and grab a shower.
Someone left their shorts and underwear on top of the shower pole….I came back that night and they were on the shower floor.
Eventually, they end up in the garbage, but members are so nasty. I commend the staff that cleans those places. But the locker rooms are so much better. In fact the location I attended in the past, they moved to a larger building, so the locker room was better also.

You must bring your own lock to secure your stuff in a locker. There are benches affixed to the floor. The shower area is in a separate adjacent room. There are four showers, one of which is accessible.
Across from each shower is a little changing stall for privacy. Also, there is a TV playing music videos. I have been in a couple of other Planet Fitness gyms, also.
They had a mix of half-height and full-height lockers, but you could secure your items with your own lock. Not all locations have private changing stalls. All were fairly clean.

When is the best time to go to Planet Fitness (to avoid a lot of people being there)?
Answer: Whenever you want.
Planet Fitness’ business model aims to sell memberships to people who they know won’t actually go to the facility.
The goal is to have 70% of the paying members never or rarely show up. If you’re going to the gym, you are not who Planet Fitness wants as a member. It depends on the day. Right now it should all be pretty busy because of those new year resolutions.
But if you want to know a specific time on a specific day. If you go to google and type in planet fitness hours, it gives you a list of times the least to most people are there. Like most businesses, Planet Fitness is usually busy between 4 pm-7:30 pm.
This comes from the official handout Planet Fitness members should receive when signing up. Also, you can check google for specific Planet Fitness locations and their busy times! The middle of the day (10 am-2 pm) on a weekday.
The worst time is after 5 pm on a weekday and between 9 am-3 pm on the weekends/holidays.
What is Planet Fitness “lunk alarm“?
I’ve seen a lot of videos where bodybuilders go in to check it out. It seems to be an alarm that sounds off when a person makes too much noise lifting.
Things like grunting and having the weights bang around. The thing is, if you’ve ever deadlifted heavyweight, it’s inevitable that there’s gonna be quite a bit of noise. Squatting a lot tends to elicit grunts as well.
People seem to have correlated this alarm with the culture at planet fitness which is summed up like this:
You’re fine the way you are, but if you want to be fitter without the intimidating presence of bodybuilders, then our place is for you. You don’t need to feel inadequate around people who have a fierce drive for physical self-improvement.
The thing is though, any gym you go to doesn’t even promote the idea of judging newcomers or whatever.
Most people just go about their lifting.
Planet fitness in a sense feeds off of your insecurities. They create an environment that is more comforting to people who don’t want to face the reality that they aren’t as fit as other gym-goers.
This all sounds pretty harsh but is there any other reason why there would be alarms against anyone pushing their limits?
When someone drops weights, Miss uses equipment and lets it slam or lunk to the floor. They also judge the clothes people wear to the gym. Link alarm sounds and they embarrass the heck out of the person who they deem as not fit.
PF is good for walkers who can’t deal with outside walking in hot or cold weather, their leg machines and rowing or step machines are good starter machines but if one needs to step up in workouts go elsewhere. I have been a member for 5 yrs. But I only use PF to walk on the treadmills to stay out of the cold or the heat.
Their sanitation of the machines sucks. Our PF uses hand sanitizer instead of a good germ-killing anti-bacterial disinfectant. Flu season – they still use the diluted hand sanitizer I take my own wipes. I care about my health they don’t care! But a great place to stay out of the weather.
What do you get for $10 a month at Planet Fitness?
All memberships include access to state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, fully equipped locker rooms, unlimited small group fitness instruction by a certified trainer through the pe @ pf ® program, and much more.
What is Planet Fitness’ dress code?
It’s really not as strict as some people seem to think. Yes, there have been cases in the news of people being shamed but that’s the fault of the staff being crazy not the dress code.
The only thing the dress code specifies is no work boots and no stringer tanks that would expose nipples and then, of course, no gallon jugs of water.
Out of those three the only time I would ever say anything to anyone is to put their gallon jugs in a locker (if it spills it creates a slipping hazard) and work boots because they can track in dirt etc all over the place.
More so than not people are minding their own business and I wouldn’t dare embarrass them or myself by making a scene telling them they need to leave or change.
As far as I can see it’s no jeans, no do-rags, no skullcaps, no bandanas, no boots, no sandals, no crop tops, no shorts, no string tank tops & no grunting, dropping weights.
No competing fitness logos. Supposedly it’s very cheap to be a member & there’s never a wait for machines.
The terms seem okay to me.
