Jessica Chastain (45) traveled to Ukraine at the weekend. As reported by several media outlets, including “Variety”, the actress visited the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv. Later she met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (44) and Andriy Yermak (50), the head of the Presidential Office.
Zelenskyy shared pictures of Chastain’s visit through his Telegram account. “American actress Jessica Chastain is in Ukraine today,” he wrote. “For us, such visits by famous personalities are extremely valuable,” the President continued. “Thanks to you, the world will hear, know and understand even more the truth about what is happening in our country. Thank you for your support!”
Jessica Chastain, who won the Oscar for best actress for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” this year, has long supported Ukraine. On Instagram, for example, she posted pictures of Ukrainian women who had to give birth to their children in bomb shelters.
Chastain is not the first Hollywood star in Ukraine. Ben Stiller (56) made a solidarity visit to Volodymyr Zelenskyj in June. Before becoming a politician, the head of state was an actor and comedian.
Sean Penn (61) was in the country in February to shoot a documentary. He witnessed the start of the Russian invasion up close. Since autumn 2021, Penn has been shooting a documentary about Ukraine and its conflict with Russia, which has been smoldering for years.
