almost a year Ago, in February of 2018, the prolific Ryan Murphy moved to Netflix for a whopping $ 300 million. The creator of American Horror Story and American Crime Story left so 20th Century Fox TV, the studio with which he was working for more than a decade creating a series for the Fox and its sister cable’s FX.
Months after one of his series for the platform, The Politician, is shutting down its cast with the signing of two old acquaintances and a famous addition. According to Deadline, Jessica Lange, oscar-winning actress with whom Murphy has worked on American Horror Story or Feud, will star in the series. Next to it will be Dylan McDermott, star of the anthology of terror; and the actress January Jones, known for playing Betty Draper in Mad Men.
This project was made public a few days before the announcement of the agreement between Murphy and Netflix, thus becoming the second series of the creator for the platform. Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, regular collaborators the producer and co-creators with him of Glee, are behind this project, which will produce the Fox 21 TV Studios.
The Politician was described then as a musical comedy “with social commentary,” which will star the winner of the premioTony, Ben Platt. Interpret a rich citizen of Santa Barbara, California, with political aspirations, and each season will explore a new political challenge of the character.
The first series of Murphy for Netflix, or at least your first project announced, will be Ratched, prequel of the movie one flew over the cuckoo’s nest where another of his favorite actresses, Sarah Paulson, interpret a younger version of the evil nurse. The premiere of this series is planned for 2019.
