The journalist María Casado was elected on Tuesday president of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Television with 178 votes in favor, becoming the first woman to be put to the front of the institution.
Married, currently in Spanish Tv, it will replace at the expense of Manuel Campo Vidal –who has been president for the past 12 years– after winning in the voting journalists José Manuel Diego Carcedo and José Carbajo.
After hearing the news, Married, has thanked the academic “broad confidence” in her and her team. “I am committed to lead this stage with and to all the academics and do between all of an Institution symbol of the television that is in our tongues. Very grateful and hopeful,” he added.
The new board of directors of the Academy shall be composed of a team of 23 professionals from different areas of television, including Fernando Navarrete, Beatriz Maesso, Pepe Quílez, Maria José Peláez, Rafael Galán, Joana Carrion, Pedro Olloqui, Juan Ramón Gonzalo, Valentín, Carrera, Macarena Rey, Jesus Lozano, Pilar Socorro, Jacinto García Alonso, Pepa Sánchez Biezma, Trash on the Street, Pilar Vergara, Carlos Castel, Alexa Portillo, Paco Moreno, Rosa Díez Urrestarazu, Jack, April, Thomas Molina and José David Serum.
Manuel Campo Vidal left the presidency
In march 2000 took place the first elections to the Board of Directors of the history of the Academy of Television in which Ignacio Salas was elected president of the Academy. Rooms governed the Institution until the year 2006.
In 2006, the Board of Directors chaired by Ignacio Salas decided to bring forward the elections and the September 28, Manuel Campo Vidal became the fourth president of the Academy by renewing its mandate in the following terms.
During his mandate, the Academy of Television regained the electoral debates on television between candidates for the Presidency of the Government, being public, concluded in 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2016.
