The South Australia Men’s cricket team started their One-Day Cup campaign with a thrilling two-run victory over Western Australia. Mackenzie Harvey received his state debut cap from Head Coach Ryan Harris and opened the batting but was caught behind on 21. Despite losing early wickets, Daniel Drew and Liam Scott provided stability, both falling short of half-centuries. WA’s Bryce Jackson shone with figures of 6-31.
In response, SA quickly took two wickets with excellent fielding from Harvey and some sharp bowling. WA’s Sam Whiteman and Hilton Cartwright built a strong partnership before Ashton Turner added valuable runs. However, Nathan McAndrew’s five-wicket haul turned the tide in SA’s favor. With just one wicket needed for victory, Ben Manenti’s delivery to Bryce Jackson sealed the win.
This comeback victory was thanks to standout performances from McAndrew and Manenti. The South Australian Men will now face NSW in their next One-Day Cup match. Fans can catch the action on cricket.com.au and Kayo Sports from 9am ACST.
