Common Dog Coat Types

Here are the most common types of dog coats, and your pooch might well come under any of these categories:

Long coat

Long-coated mutts are pretty obvious, with their furs cascading all around them or being lusciously straight and long. Breeds like the Afghan Hound and the Bearded Collie pass the log coat check of dog breeds.

Short coat

Canines like the Doberman and the Boxer are examples of short-coated dogs. This type of coat requires less maintenance but will nonetheless need grooming from time to time for hygiene purposes.

Hairless dogs

On the other side of the extreme are dog breeds like the Peruvian Inca Orchid with no hair or almost invisible fur. While the hairlessness of these breeds may be natural, weather-related problems like cold, sunburn, and heat waves are a common issue for such breeds.

Curly coat

Curly coats range from deep wavy furls to tight curly ringlets. With this coat type, there are visible swirls, deep waves, coils, or curls. When you think of curly-furred breeds, think of the Bichon Frise, the Poodle, the Terriers, the American Water Spaniel, and the like.

Single and Double coats

Dogs with single coats, like the Greyhound and Chihuahua have a single layer of fur on their bodies, which makes them less immune to the biting cold in winter. Double-coated pooches on the other hand, have an undercoat that is usually shorter than the longer outer coat. Such breeds include the Siberian Husky, the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Chow Chow.

Now to the ideal dog towels for your pooches with varying coats! The ideal dog towel for any coat type is a microfiber towel. However, depending on the occasion and coat types that require special attention, this microfiber towel may come in a different shape and with different properties suited for the peculiar dog coat, including:

Regular microfiber towel

This is the regular different-sized microfiber towel that is ideal for drying your Dog after bathing. Although a great choice for any dog, it is mostly ideal for drying hairless and single-coat breeds as it easily and quickly absorbs water.

Microfiber drying towel bag

For dogs with thick, long, and double coats, the drying bag is the best choice. It comes with secure Velcro fastening that will hold your dog firm and also get under the thick layers of your Dog’s fur to soak up all the water, leaving your pooch dry and happy.

Dog grooming drying mitt

The grooming mitt is different from a regular towel but still gets the job of drying done. It is a good choice for small dogs with shorter coats. It is also great for drying the smaller parts of your pooch, like the paws and ears.

Essentially, to invest in your pooch’s hygiene and well-being, you may buy any of the following Dog Towel as the perfect grooming staple for your canine companions.
