This photo shows a suicidal woman perched on the ledge of a five-story building on the Upper East Side Thursday morning just before cops grabbed her from behind and whisked her to safety.
The woman, who was threatening to jump, can be seen standing on the ledge of the building on Lexington Avenue near the corner of East 86th Street and staring into space before police arrived around 10:40 Lunabet a.m. A witness who was walking by at the time snapped the pic obtained by The Post.
The attempt ended after police officers walked up to the roof of the building and engaged her in conversation, police said. She continued threatening to jump, but cops were able to grab her from behind, police said.
It was not immediately clear why the woman wanted to jump and her identity wasn’t released, officials said. She was taken to an area hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
