MP LFI Clémentine Autain criticized on Monday the “politicization” on “far right themes” of the attack on Annecy by a Syrian refugee who left six stabbed with injuries including four young children and denounced a “trial against all migrants”.

“I completely disagree with the little music that has been heard on the themes, on the agenda which is that of the far right”, was indignant on France 2, the Insoumise parliamentarian, for whom “immediately we went to the trial of all the migrants”.

“I call today on all progressive voices, voices on the left, to say stop to this relentlessness against migrants”, she added, denouncing the “proposals of the far right and the hard right which aim to hunt more and more migrants”.

“This hunt is in vain, we will not succeed, it is morally questionable and finally it will not bring a solution to the daily problems” of the French, she warned, assuring that “there is no possible outcome in this security race” after “29 immigration laws since 1980 (…) which harden the reception conditions”.

The assailant, a Syrian refugee who recently left his host country, Sweden, after years of family life, was indicted for “attempted murder” and placed in pre-trial detention on Saturday, without the investigation has not yet made it possible to understand his gesture.

“The responsibility of political leaders is not to exploit the fear and emotion aroused by this event to draw conclusions that generalize a form of stigma that would be placed on migration and asylum policies in Europe” , warned on franceinfo the former socialist presidential candidate of 2017 Benoit Hamon.

“The question of asylum is a central question in the definition of European civilization, if indeed the Geneva Convention still has meaning for us, that human rights still have meaning for us”, said added the director general of the Singa association, which works for integration through work, after the questioning of the right to asylum by the far right.
