The federal government wants to support the worldwide fight against hunger with 880 million euros. On the one hand, it is 430 million euros that Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) promised at a G7 meeting in February, said a spokesman for the development ministry in Berlin. The other funds would therefore come from the supplementary budget.
The funds were distributed regionally to the countries that were severely affected by the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and the consequences, such as the Sahel region, the Horn of Africa and the Middle East. The newspapers of the Funke media group had previously reported on it.
