The historian and journalist Jacques Julliard has died, Le Monde learned on Friday September 8, confirming information from Le Point. He was 90 years old.

A historian of worker autonomy and revolutionary trade unionism, he was considered one of the emblematic figures of the “second left”. He was for a long time an editor at Nouvel Observateur, then more recently at Marianne and a columnist at Le Figaro.

Normalien, associate professor, former director of studies at the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, involved with the CFTC which became the CFDT, he has inscribed his commitment to “Christian humanism”.
