A woman went to a local hospital this week after her boyfriend kicked and punched her in the face during an argument about money, police said.
The 48-year-old victim suffered a broken jaw during the incident, which took place Tuesday night inside the man’s Ocean Avenue apartment, according to a police report.
Police were called to Jersey City Medical Center Thursday night on the report of an aggravated assault. There, they met with the injured woman who told them that her 55-year-old boyfriend had physically assaulted her during a verbal dispute about money two days earlier, police said.
The woman suffered a broken jaw and was also bitten on her left leg during the assault. She said she did not initially report the incident to police because she didn’t think she suffered any serious injuries, the report states.
The victim was advised of her domestic violence rights but was unable to go to the South District police station to complete a temporary restraining order against her boyfriend because she was admitted into the hospital, police said.
Instead, she said she would file a TRO with the court when she is released from the hospital, according to the report.
A warrant for her boyfriend’s arrest was issued.
