The mayor of Nice denounces “serious facts”. In a letter communicated to the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, Christian Estrosi calls on the government for an action and awareness plan to defend the “secular Republic” after Muslim prayers took place in primary schools.

The office of the rector specifies that only three schools are concerned and that the facts would have taken place at the time “of the meridian break”. According to information from BFMTV Côte d’Azur, these would be the primary schools of Fuon-Cauda, Saint-Sylvestre and Bois-de-Boulogne.
The city councilor of Nice denounces “extremely serious” facts. In a press release, he wants a “firm, collective and resolute” response to what he describes as “attempts to intrude religion into the sanctuaries of the Republic that are our schools”.
By questioning the Prime Minister, he asks her to “strengthen her action so that these attacks against secularism are firmly fought” and to inform the mayors of the establishments where children whose families return from Syria are educated.
