The boss of the Horizons deputies Laurent Marcangeli “warned” on Sunday the Corsican deputies of the Liot group whose vote in favor of the text repealing the pension reform could, according to him, upset the discussions on the institutional future of the island.
“I respect the freedom to vote but if we want a good discussion with the government” on the institutional future of Corsica, “we should perhaps not be on a frontal opposition on other subjects”, has declared on France 3, the deputy of Corse-du-Sud, only elected Corsican of the majority.
“I ask them to take responsibility and to tell themselves that everything hangs together today. We are in a complicated political situation. If tomorrow we are in a political crisis, if tomorrow there is a government that falls, the future of Corsica, through the reform they are calling for, seems to me a little less certain”, added the deputy in the program “Sunday in Politics”.
He explained that it was a “friendly warning” to deputies Jean-Félix Acquaviva (Haute-Corse), Michel Castellani (Haute-Corse), and Paul-André Colombani (Corsica- from South). The Liot group’s bill must be examined on June 8 in the Assembly Chamber.
Discussions on the institutional future of Corsica have been stalled for several months. A strategic committee must however be held Thursday in Paris, under the aegis of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, with Corsican elected officials.
President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed in February that he had “no taboo” on this subject, including on autonomy, nor a “predetermined solution”. He also reiterated his two “red lines”: the maintenance of “Corsica in the Republic” and “the refusal to create two categories of citizens”.
