The Giants’ second-longest tenured player will be back in Sahabet 2017.
Long snapper Zak DeOssie has agreed to terms with the team, an individual with knowledge of the situation confirmed to NJ Advance Media. The Houston Chronicle first reported the deal, which is said to be for two years.
DeOssie, who will turn 33 in May, has spent his entire career with the Giants. He and Eli Manning are the only remaining Giants who were members of the Super Bowl XLII and XLVI championship teams. DeOssie was a fourth-round pick out of Brown in 2007.
DeOssie appeared in all 16 games last season, bouncing back from a serious wrist injury in 2015. DeOssie missed the final four games of that season after tearing tendons in his wrist. But prior to that injury, DeOssie had never missed a game, appearing in 149 consecutive contests over the regular season and postseason.
DeOssie has twice made the Pro Bowl in his career, in 2008 and 2010.
The Giants do not have any other long snapper on the roster. They brought Tyler Ott to camp last summer, but DeOssie held onto the job without issue.
Two-thirds of the Giants’ special teams battery is now under contract – punter Brad Wing and DeOssie. Robbie Gould, who finished last season as the Giants’ kicker after the Josh Brown scandal erupted, is set to be an unrestricted free agent. The Giants recently signed kicker Aldrick Rosas to a futures deal.
