The Portland Timbers will open their 2017 regular season campaign Friday with a home match against Minnesota United at 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time.

The Timbers are coming off a strong preseason campaign. Portland won its final two games of preseason, beating the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 at home before going on the road and posting a 2-1 win over the LA Galaxy.

With the additions of Sebastian Blanco and David Guzman, the Timbers showed impressive chemistry and prowess in the attack during preseason while still holding their own on defense. The biggest question facing the Timbers as they enter the year is at center back, where the club is still planning to sign a starting-caliber player.

I’ll be hosting a live chat here at 1 p.m. on Tuesday to answer all of your Timbers, Thorns, NWSL and MLS questions. Send your questions to @jamiebgoldberg on Twitter or leave your questions in the comments section below and I’ll stop by and answer everything at 1 p.m. We’ll post a recap of the Q&A here.
