Aaron Lowe was shot to death just after midnight. This happened only hours after Washington State beat Utah 24-13. It also came less than one year after Lowe’s accidental shooting death.

Police say another victim of Sunday’s shooting incident, a woman, was taken to hospital in critical condition. Authorities are still searching for a suspect.

In a statement, Utah’s head coach Kyle Whittingham stated that “We are devastated to learn about the passing Aaron Lowe.” “Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Aaron’s family and friends as well as the victim of this tragedy. Aaron was a great friend, teammate, brother, and son. He was loved by all who had the opportunity to meet him. His memory will be missed.

Lowe, 21 years old, was the first to be awarded a memorial scholarship in honor of Ty Jordan (19-year-old Utah player). Jordan died from an accidental shooting on December 20, 2020.

Jordan and Lowe were high school classmates in Mesquite Texas.

Lowe changed his jersey number to No. 2 after Jordan’s death. Lowe changed his jersey number from No. 2 to No. 22 to honor his friend.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox sent condolences via Twitter to Lowe’s family. Lowe was a reserve cornerback and was in his third season playing for the Utes. He mainly played on special team.
