Erfurt (dpa/th) – In Thuringia, the number of recipients of social care services has increased slightly. Last year, 9,035 men and women received help for care – and thus 260 more than in 2020, as the State Statistical Office announced on Thursday in Erfurt. That is an increase of three percent. The average age of the recipients was 76.2 years. The majority of those in need of long-term care who were entitled to benefits (92 percent) lived in a home.
Furthermore, according to the statistics, 1230 Thuringians received benefits to overcome special social difficulties and help in other situations in the past year. That was 125 people or 9.2 percent fewer than in the previous year. Homeless people, for example, receive these special social assistance benefits, and they are also granted for funerals, for example.
