Leonberg (dpa / lsw) – After finding a bomb on a dirt road in Leonberg (Boeblingen district), the ordnance disposal team had to defuse the explosive device. An area with a radius of half a kilometer around where the 500-kilogram World War II bomb was found is currently being evacuated, the police said on Monday. A section of the Gebersheim district, where around 2,500 people live, is affected. A county road was also closed.

It was initially unclear to the police how the bomb was found and how many people had to leave their homes during the defusing.
