Oberhausen (dpa / lnw) – One day after the explosion at the Left Party office in Oberhausen, the police are continuing to investigate the perpetrators. A spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday that further traces would be evaluated. Representatives of the left assume an attack from the right. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the investigations continue “in all directions”.
“The mood is composed, you can also say ‘combatant’,” said Henning von Stoltzenberg, spokesman for the Left Group in Oberhausen, on Wednesday. “We won’t let our work stop us for a second”. The explosion on Tuesday night destroyed, among other things, the panes of the party office and neighboring shops. It hit the event room in the front part of the building, said von Stoltzenberg. It is now nailed up with boards, you can continue working in the rear part.
There are always Nazi stickers or swastika graffiti. “I think it’s called an “abstract risk situation” that we’ve always had,” said the spokesman. However, there was no concrete threat or a letter of confession.
Investigators said it could have been a self-made explosive device with, among other things, “lightning explosives”, such as those found in fireworks. “This is exactly the handwriting of militant neo-Nazis,” said von Stoltzenberg. The investigators asked for information from the left but also about a demo against rearmament in Berlin that members had attended.
The Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia said: “Our full solidarity applies to all those affected.” There have been statements from all over Germany that solidarity is helping the local members, said von Stoltzenberg.
