Dresden (dpa / sn) – According to a court ruling, a 29-year-old dealt 52 kilograms of crystal and 30 kilograms of marijuana between April and June 2020. The Dresden Regional Court sentenced the man to ten years and six months in prison on Wednesday. According to the information, the man, who has multiple criminal records, was one of the users of Encrochat crypto mobile phones, whose communication was decrypted and spied on by French authorities during this period. The convict acted very professionally and was highly networked, which speaks for a high degree of criminal energy, said the presiding judge. The Chamber’s decision is not yet final.

The man had traded the drug crystal, which is sold in the Dresden area at a street price of 50 to 70 euros per gram, at a price of nine euros and was always able to deliver it quickly, according to the verdict.

With the verdict, the chamber followed the request of the public prosecutor. The fact that he was cooperative and that he also showed remorse in his last word speaks for the accused. The defense had asked for an acquittal, considering the spied out Encrochat communication data to be unusable.

The chamber also ordered the confiscation of more than 650,000 euros – the proceeds from the drug deals. The man has mostly been in prison for the past seven years, and he has been serving a previous prison sentence since autumn 2020. Another drug case against him is pending.
