Sassnitz (dpa / mv) – Several men called the police with their campfire on the beach of the Jasmund National Park on Rügen. A walker informed officials that four people were camping and had started a fire, police said on Wednesday.

According to the police, the young men aged 16, 17, 18 and 20 also wanted to spend the night there on Tuesday. At the request of the officials, they dismantled the camp and removed their rubbish. According to the police, you must expect to be charged with an administrative offense and a fine. The police pointed out that lighting fires in the national park is strictly forbidden. In addition to other dangers, the smell of smoke is already stressful for many animals.

At the end of June there were repeated forest fires in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania – albeit in other parts of the country. In the meantime, the risk of forest fires had fallen again, partly because of the rain in the country.
