Rostock (dpa / mv) – According to the Rostock infectiologist Emil Reisinger, the currently high number of new infections with the corona virus will continue for a while. “We are still in the middle of the wave of infections of the omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5,” Reisinger told the German Press Agency on Tuesday.
According to the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lagus), 1849 new infections were registered in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on Monday, the seven-day incidence was 541.7. There were still 15 patients in the intensive care units of the hospitals in the country.
There is no precise overview of the number of people currently infected with the virus, since mainly only people with symptoms undergo a PCR test. As Reisinger said, the course of the disease is largely mild because of the vaccinations. However, the possibility of infection should not be taken lightly.
