Czech Republic’s Sadilek ruled out of Euro 2024 with injury from bike accident
Czech Republic midfielder Michal Sadílek will miss the UEFA EURO 2024 due to an injury sustained from a bike accident. The 25-year-old player, who represents Dutch club FC Twente, was forced to withdraw from the tournament after injuring his leg. Sadílek, who served as captain for Ivan Hasek’s team in a recent friendly match against Malta, played the entire 90 minutes. He has earned 24 caps for his national team and participated in five games during Czech Republic’s Euro 2024 qualification campaign. The Czech Republic football federation confirmed Sadílek’s absence from the tournament, citing a leg laceration from the bike fall as the reason.
“This is a significant blow for us as Michal is one of our experienced players,” stated Czech Republic coach Ivan Hasek. “His captaincy against Malta was well-deserved.” The national team will face North Macedonia in a friendly match on June 10 as their final preparation before Euro 2024. Their group stage fixtures include matches against Portugal, Georgia, and Turkey on June 18, June 22, and June 22 respectively.
