Erfurt/Jena (dpa/th) – Thuringia’s export economy proved to be robust last year despite international crises. Deliveries abroad totaled almost 17.8 billion euros last year, the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced in Erfurt on Wednesday. In 2021 it was around 17 billion euros. In industry, the export share of sales was more than 38 percent.

“Despite all adverse global economic circumstances, exports remain an engine of economic development in the Free State,” said Economics Minister Wolfgang Tiefensee (SPD), according to the ministry, at the Thuringian Foreign Trade Day in Jena. The importance of international markets, especially for industry, is high.

The state is therefore still ready with its foreign trade promotion to support companies entering international markets. Around six million euros in funds are available annually from the EU and the state for this purpose. Among other things, participation in trade fairs and trips by delegations would be funded.
