Changed building regulations should accelerate the expansion of the 5G network. In the future, mobile phone operators in Baden-Württemberg should be able to set up higher antenna systems without any permission.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – The state wants to make the construction of mobile phone masts easier with a change in the state building code. Dead spots in the 5G network should be closed more quickly. The green-black cabinet wants to deal with the topic today. In the future, according to the plans, it will be possible to set up higher antenna systems without a building permit. The maximum height of these systems should be 15 meters in built-up areas and up to 20 meters outside. So far, only antenna systems up to a height of 10 meters can be erected without a procedure.

In addition, the distance rule from mobile phone masts to buildings should be changed. Here the so-called calculation factor should be reduced from 0.4 to 0.2. So far, for example, antennas had to be four meters away from a ten meter high building. Two meters are planned for the future. Thirdly, mobile phone providers should be able to set up temporary systems for up to two years as long as they do not have a fixed location.

According to government circles, the changes in the law should come into force before the summer break if possible.
