Cologne (dpa/lnw) – The fire brigade at Cologne/Bonn Airport must have at least 24 employees on emergency duty during the planned warning strike. Cologne/Bonn Airport and the Verdi union agreed on this on Saturday before the regional labor court in Cologne, as the court announced in the evening. The legal dispute between the airport and Verdi was thus settled amicably. At the same time, according to the court, the airport undertook to apply to the Cologne district government for an emergency service plan for any future strike measures.
Verdi has called for warning strikes in Cologne/Bonn from Sunday 10 p.m. to Tuesday 6 a.m. Discussions about an agreement for an emergency service by the plant fire brigade were initially unsuccessful.
The airport had therefore applied to the Cologne labor court for an injunction to ensure at least one emergency service by the security forces. This had decided that at least 27 employees would have to be available for this.
According to the state labor court, Verdi was of the opinion that even a smaller scope could ensure the proper fulfillment of the task of an emergency service. The union had appealed the decision in the first instance.
Either way, the airport expects the planned work stoppages to severely disrupt operations and many flight cancellations.
