A strange natural phenomenon affected Mayenne on Sunday September 17. Around 6 p.m., a mini-tornado formed near Ernée, damaging several buildings, which collapsed. But no casualties have been reported, we learned from the departmental fire and rescue operational center (Codis).
“We carried out seven interventions, mainly for agricultural buildings which collapsed, including two with animals underneath,” the same source said. Two residential houses were also damaged.
While no person died, one person was taken to hospital, “shocked” after their garage collapsed on their vehicle, it was added, stressing that the weather had become calm again in the area.

Thirty-three departments in a large western half of the country, from Nouvelle-Aquitaine to Île-de-France, were placed on Sunday on orange alert for thunderstorms, an “intense” episode being feared with hail, gusts and torrential rains.
Mayenne was not one of the departments concerned by orange vigilance, but was however placed on yellow vigilance.
