Magdeburg (dpa/sa) – The federal and state governments are providing just over five million euros for the renovation and expansion of a total of eleven sports facilities in Saxony-Anhalt. Sufficiently available, barrier-free and well-equipped sports facilities are essential for lively communities, said Infrastructure Minister Lydia Hüskens (FDP) on Tuesday.

According to the ministry, the investment pact “Promotion of sports facilities” supplements the urban development funding of the federal and state governments. The financing ratio is fixed at 50 percent federal funds and 40 percent state funds. Municipalities pay 10 percent. The sum invested last year was almost as high.
