Munich (dpa/lby) – Ten climate activists from the Last Generation group blocked another street in Munich on Wednesday. Seven of them stuck to the roadway, two to each other, the police said. It would have taken the officials about an hour and a half to remove all participants in the protest from the street. The police took the ten activists to a police station.
The Last Generation group repeatedly draws attention to itself with protest actions against what they consider to be inadequate climate policy in Germany, with Berlin and Munich having been the main focus so far. Activists from the group sawed off the top of the Christmas tree at the Brandenburg Gate on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday, supporters of the group also tried several times to get stuck on the road at Munich’s Karlsplatz (Stachus).
After a group protest at Munich Airport, the city of Munich tightened the rules for such actions by general decree. Accordingly, the call for unannounced adhesive protests on the streets is also prohibited until the beginning of January.
